The Book of Note

Mel & I have talked about it for while — if we’re ever to have a vacation, I’m going to need a notebook to take with me so I can work while we’re there. My clients will expect their work to continue to be done and, at the very least, I’ll have to keep tabs on the AEG web server in case something screws up on it.

They’re expensive, and picking the right one is hard because they’re not like regular computers which I can build myself and swap out parts in at will. After a lot of research and a big price drop on a notebook we’d had our eye on, we finally bought this beauty. So now we’ve got the wireless on our home router set up and I can use the notebook anywhere in the house, or even in the back yard if I want.

I’ve been spending most of today getting it configured the way I like it, with Maxthon (formerly “MyIE2″) as the web browser, with its own copy of Trillian contact lists, and of course, with all my working software so I can actually do work on it.
