So Hungry

I’m Medifast dieting.

I’m not sure why I haven’t mentioned this yet. Perhaps because I was worried it wouldn’t work, or that it’d be too hard or not right for me. But it’s working. It’s difficult, but it’s working. I’ve now been eating nothing but Medifast shakes (and soups) and one meal of “lean meat + 2 cups of green veggies” a day and I’m down from my starting weight of 248lbs to 231lbs. I’m now lighter than I have been in almost ten years.

Medifast is a very strict super-low-calorie diet. The shakes you eat contain just enough of everything you need to get you through the day. Your body recognizes it isn’t getting a lot of caloric intake so it starts eating its fat stores. This is a condition known as ketosis.

My original plan was to do this for two months but with plotting my weight loss with Excel and using its predictions I’ll probably be doing a third. After I’m done I’ll go back to eating right and exercising and a month after that I’m planning on doing another Body For Life 12 week program to rebuild whatever muscle mass I might have lost (which shouldn’t be much, according to what I’ve read).
